Clare Ungerson, chair of East Kent Justice for Palestinians, will be speaking about her book "Four Thousand Lives: the rescue of German Jewish men to Britain, 1939", The History Press, 2014. It was doing research in Jerusalem for this project that first took Clare to the West Bank and where she saw with her own eyes the impact of the occupation on the Palestinians' daily lives and on their civil and human rights.

Professor David Turner: The One State Solution
University of Kent, Keynes Lecture Theatre 3 (KLT3)

A single state with equal rights for Israelis and Palestinians is an old idea which has recently reemerged as a radical alternative to the two state solution which the Oslo "peace process" has conspicuously failed to deliver.  David will discuss the reasons for the failure of Oslo and the case for a one state solution.  David Turner is a signatory of Jews for Justice for Palestinians and has served on its executive. He is also secretary of the East Kent Justice for Palestinians Group.

Dr Keith Dimond: Every Day life in the West Bank

Keith Dimond has recently returned from the Occupied West Bank after three months service with EAPPI (Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel). He will talk about his experiences as an accompanier and the problems of everyday life under occupation.

We aim to start the AGM business at about 8.00 pm. Be aware that the treasurer will collect membership fees: the subscription is £5 per year, payable at the AGM.

Glyn Secker: The Jewish Boat to Gaza - Why?

Glyn Secker is a member of the executive of Jews for Justice for Palestinians and was captain of the Irene, the Jewish Boat to Gaza. The Irene set sail from Northern Cyprus in November 2010 after the murder of 9 Turkish activists on board the Mavi Marmara by Israeli commandoes. The boat carried 9 Jewish activists and a cargo of medicines and children's toys for Gaza. Glyn will tell the story of the Irene and the reasons behind its voyage.

Ghada Karmi: Palestine and the Arab Spring
University of Kent, Keynes Lecture Theatre 1 (KLT1)

Ghada Karmi, born in Jerusalem and forced to flee as a child with her family in 1948, is a Palestinian doctor, writer and academic. She is the author of "In Search of Fatima" and "Married to Another Man - Israel's Dilemma in Palestine". She is currently a Research Fellow at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter. Ghada speaks frequently on the Palestine/Israel conflict for which she advocates a one-state solution.

Budrus is an award-winning feature documentary film about a Palestinian community organizer who unites local Fatah and Hamas members along with Israeli supporters in an unarmed movement to save the village of Budrus from destruction by Israel’s Separation Barrier.

Hamed Qawasameh "Bleak realities and common co-operation"

Hamed Qawasameh works for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Hebron, in the Occupied West Bank. He is also an active member of the Villages Group, that supports local Palestinian communities.

Naomi is the founder of Jews for Boycotting Israeli Goods and an experienced campaigner for Palestinian rights. She will talk about effective tactics for boycott and discuss the moral and practical complexities of cultural boycott.

Colin Green is Emeritus Professor of Surgical Science at University College London. He is one of the founders of Medical Aid for Palestine and co-founder of the FQMS foundation for Medical Schools in Palestine. He is also known for his public support of the Academic Boycott of Israel.
